The women of WWE have been making headlines and history over the past few years thanks to the ongoing Women’s Revolution, but the careers of the women who used to be referred to as Divas hasn’t always been this way.
There was once a time when the women were used as eye candy for the male demographic of the WWE Universe and often dressed in the least amount of clothing as possible. This continued until women began watching wrestling in great numbers and WWE realized it was time for the women to have some credibility.
During a time of Diva Search contests, bra and panties matches, pudding matches, and matches being decided through evening gown competitions and even dance offs, there were many women who became part of the company that were never given the chance to hold a Championship because they were never seen as genuine contenders.
The following list looks at 15 of the women who came into the company when the reputation of the Women’s Division was at an all time low. These women were unable to put their names in the record books when it comes to title reigns, but are still fondly remembered by the WWE Universe.
